US Balochistan draft: PML-N resolution calls for summoning Munter to Punjab Assembly

3 resolutions filed in secretariat term US draft resolution irrelevant intervention in Pakistan’s internal affairs.

LAHORE:
A resolution filed in the Punjab Assembly secretariat to condemn a draft resolution in the US Congress on Balochistan has demanded that US Ambassador to Pakistan Cameron Munter should be summoned in the house for an explanation.

The resolution, filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MPA Dr Zamrud Yasmeen Rana, was submitted on Monday and says that a clarification issued by the US Embassy in Islamabad over the draft resolution, tabled by US Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, is insufficient.

Dr Rana, in her resolution, has urged that the Punjab Assembly recommend the federal government to take the Baloch into confidence and immediately address their grievances.

The resolution states that the US resolution is an irrelevant intervention in Pakistan’s internal affairs. It also recommends that the federal government take up the Kashmir issue more effectively and to convince to US congress to raise its voice against Indian brutality in the Kashmir valley.

Another resolution, filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid’s Parliamentary Leader Chaudhry Zaheeruddin Khan, has also been submitted.

Khan’s resolution terms the American resolution as a conspiracy against Pakistan’s territorial integrity. It says that the resolution endangers Pakistan’s sovereignty and is an open violation of international laws.

Claiming that the PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain had served to empower the Baloch, the resolution also states that such a resolution should never be taken lightly or ruled out easily.

The resolution also questions the US’ silence over the Kashmir issue.

Not to be outdone, Pakistan Peoples Party’s Deputy Parliamentary Leader Shaukat Basra also submitted a resolution over the issue. He said that the Punjab Assembly will unanimously pass the resolution. Basra’s resolution not only condemns the US resolution but also states that the people of Punjab are upset at this move.
