New Igp: Habibur Rehman takes charge

New inspector general of Punjab police assumed charge of his office. Rehman joined the police in 1977 as an ASP.

LAHORE: The new inspector general of Punjab police, Haji Mohammad Habibur Rehman, assumed charge of his office on Friday. Rehman joined the police in 1977 as an ASP. He served as SDPO in district Raheem Yar Khan, Toba Tek Singh and Pakpattan. On being promoted to an SP in 1983, Rehman served in Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal, Raheem Yar Khan and Traffic Highway Faisalabad. In 1993 he was made an SSP and served in Lahore and Rawalpindi. In 2009, he was appointed the Lahore capital city police officer. Prior to his latest appointment, he was serving in the Punjab Constabulary as Additional Inspector General. Rehman is the 48th Inspector General of Punjab Police.
