Killed over credit: For demanding payment, shopkeeper pays with life

On the day of incident, shopkeeper asked Yasmin to clear her dues which had exceeded Rs150,000.

With the recent murder of a shopkeeper in Westridge over money fresh, a similar incident shocked the city on Tuesday.

A woman shot dead a shopkeeper in Paryal on Tuesday for demanding payment for groceries she had bought on credit earlier.

Chontra Police Station Sub Inspector (SI) Allah Baksh, the investigation officer, said that Yasir was running a general store in Peryal village from where Yasmin used to buy groceries on credit. On the day of incident, Yasir asked Yasmin to clear her dues which had exceeded Rs150,000.

The woman asked the shopkeeper to come by her house to collect the money.

He added that when Yasir reached the accused’s home, she asked him to sit in courtyard and left on the pretext of bringing out a cup of tea for him. The accused returned with pistol and started firing at Yasir, killing him on the spot, before getting away.

After learning of the incident, police reached the spot and sent the body to District Headquarter Hospital. Baksh added that Yasir’s father had filed a complaint against the woman with them.

Another police official added that the body was recovered from the kitchen after the police broke the locks of the house. He said that the killer had dumped the body in the kitchen and run away after locking up all the doors of the house.

The post mortem had not been completed, nor had an FIR been registered when this report was filed.
