Karo-Kari case: High court summons three SHOs and Advocate General

The officials have been put on notice for February 23.

The Sindh High Court on Monday put the Advocate General Sindh and SHOs of three police stations in Karachi and Khairpur districts and sought their appearance on February 23 in a Karo-Kari case.


The notices were issued by a bench comprising Justice Maqbool Baqar and Justice Nisar M Shaikh which was hearing a constitutional petition filed by Syed Ali Mohammad Shah and Masooma who made SHO Saeedabad in Karachi and two other SHOs of Khairpur Mirs and Abdul Rehman Unar respondents in a case relating to registration of a false FIR against them by the father of Masooma.

The petitioner couple maintained that they married after fulfilling all legal formalities on December 8, 2011 and on December 12, 2011, Muhammad Bux , father of Masooma, lodged a FIR under section 365-B (kidnapping with intentionof Zina) and 396- A (dacoity) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The relatives of both the petitioners have declared them Karo-Kari and are hunting them, the counsel for petitioners told the bench seeking quashing of FIR.

The bench after hearing the initial arguments ordered its office to issue notices for appearance of respondents on February 23.

OGRA restrained

A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Maqbool Baqar and Justice Nisar M Shaikh on Monday restrained Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority from any action against a CNG station till the next date of hearing on February 23.

The bench was hearing a constitutional petition filed by Speedy Filling and Service Station situated in Block 16 of Federal B Area which contested a notice issued by OGRA on January 26 for suspension of gas supply to the station for no valid reason.

The bench after hearing the counsel for petitioner ordered its office to issue notice to the respondents for February 23.
