KARACHI:

Disqualified Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) secretary Ijaz Farooqui was given renewed hope of reinstatement by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Zaka Ashraf yesterday.

The PCB chief met Farooqui at the National Stadium Karachi and told him that he would be called to Lahore to present his case. “Ashraf told me I would be called to the board’s headquarters in the first week of March for another hearing, where I could plead my case to the top brass of the PCB,” said Farooqui. “Hopefully, I’ll be reinstated.”

Farooqui was disqualified by former PCB chairman Ijaz Butt for voicing concerns of discrimination against players from Karachi in the board’s selection process.
