Fresh Fighting: 11 suspected militants killed in Kurram

PARACHINAR: Security forces claim to have killed 11 militants and wounded 19 in fresh fighting in the Kurram tribal region on Friday. Death toll could not be independently verified and militants often dispute official accounts. Security forces pounded hideouts of suspected militants with heavy artillery in the Mamozai area of Kurram, where scores of people have been killed in fierce fighting between security forces and insurgents over the past few weeks. Kurram’s rugged terrain restricts the movement of ground forces. Gunship helicopters and bombers are often called in for support.
