Illegal slaughterhouse: Four arrested; 1,000kg meat seized

Slaughterhouse was raided with a team of doctors from the Livestock Department.

FAISALABAD: Police on Thursday arrested four men on charges of operating an illegal slaughterhouse in Sadar and seized 1,000 kilograms of unhygienic meat. Police said they were informed about the slaughterhouse on Sitiana Road in Younus Town by an anonymous resident of the area. They said the slaughterhouse was raided with a team of doctors from the Livestock Department. The team comprised Dr Asif Ali Butt, Dr Zafar Iqbal and Dr Liaqat Ali, who concluded in their report that the meat was unhygienic and not fit for consumption. The arrested butchers were identified as Asif, Atiq, Rafique and Khalid.
