Overseeing Operations: Army chief visits Kurram Agency

Over 600 of these families have resettled, after payment of compensation.

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani visited Kurram Agency on Wednesday and was briefed about the progress of Operation Azmari Ghero in the region. In the last two and a half months, 69 soldiers have died, while 166 terrorists have been killed, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations press release. While interacting with troops involved in the operation, the COAS lauded their efforts in fighting terrorism. He also appreciated the Political Administration for managing around 2,000 displaced families. Over 600 of these families have resettled, after payment of compensation. Earlier on arrival, the COAS was received by Peshawar Corps Commander Lieutenant General Khalid Rabbani.
