MULTAN/ SARGODHA:

Several protest demonstrations were held in the province on Wednesday by Health Department paramedics against the government’s failure to implement the new service rules.

In Sargodha, Health Department’s grade-4 staff took out a rally that remained on the streets for more than four hours. The protesters said that all Health Department employees from scale 1 to 4, barring those in the Punjab, were getting time-scale promotions.

The protest was led by Muhammad Yousuf, the Paramedical Staff Alliance provincial president.

Yousuf said that despite approval from the chief minister, the department was not notifying the new service structure.

He said more than 100,000 households were suffering due to this delay. Also on Wednesday, Pakistan Paramedical Staff Association held a protest in Multan against the non implementation of service structure for Health Department workers in scale 1 to 4 employees.

Employees from Nishtar Hospital, Cardiology Institute, Civil Hospital, and Children’s Complex participated in the protest.

They shouted slogans against the government. Association president Iqbal Tahir and general secretary AD Sandhela led the protest.

They said they would march towards Lahore on March 7, if their demands were not met.
