Tennis: Berdych beats Mahut to reach semis

MONTPELLIER: Top-seed Tomas Berdych beat Nicolas Mahut of France to reach the semi-finals of the Montpellier International in France. Berdych struck 14 aces on the way to a convincing 6-3, 6-4 victory. His opponent in the last-four is German seventh-seed Philipp Kohlschreiber, who defeated fourth-seed Richard Gasquet of France 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Meanwhile, defending champion and third-seed Gael Monfils overcame eighth-seed Jarkko Nieminen of Finland 6-3, 6-3 to set up a semi-final clash with fellow Frenchman Gilles Simon.
