ISLAMABAD: The Ski Federation of Pakistan (SFP) has decided to cancel the Sadia Khan Children Championship that was scheduled to start today.

According to the SFP, the decision was taken due to insufficient snowfall in Naltar, Gilgit, where the event was to take place. This is the second year in succession that the championship had to be cancelled due to inadequate snowfall.

Children from all over Pakistan, as well as skiing associations of Punjab, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Sindh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad were due to take part in the event, with the cancellation coming as a big blow to all the participants.

The SFP has now issued a revised schedule for the winter competitions. The Shah Khan Cup will be held from February 21, while the national championship will kick off from February 25, which will see nine teams participating in the event.
