Tennis: Youzhny wins Zagreb opener

Third-seed Mikhail Youzhny won with a 6-4, 7-6 over Sergiy Stakhovsky.

ZAGREB: Third-seed Mikhail Youzhny advanced to the second round of the Zagreb International tournament with a 6-4, 7-6 win over Sergiy Stakhovsky. Second-seed Alex Bogomolov, another Russian, also progressed with a crushing 6-3, 6-1 defeat of Croatian wildcard Dino Marcan. Meanwhile, sixth-seed Marcos Baghdatis fought back from a set down to beat Czech Lukas Rosol 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 and eighth-seeded Croatian Ivo Karlovic also registered a 7-6, 6-3 win over Slovenian Blaz Kavcic.
