ABBOTABAD: Zoya Khalid qualified for the semi-finals of the first National Women Squash Championship in Abbottabad at the Jansher Khan Squash Complex. ZTBL player Zoya prevailed over Punjab’s Amana Latif 3-0 to book a last-four meeting. In another last-eight match, Sadia Gul of Wapda beat Punjab’s Bushra Khalid 3-1, while Samar Anjum beat Mehwish Hanif of Punjab in a close encounter 3-2. Riffat Khan also beat Fatima Munir 3-0 to complete the semi-final lineup. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Squash Association Secretary Qamar Zaman said the main objective to organise the event was to provide exposure to the top-ranked women players.  “It’s a good sign that we’ve got a positive response,” said Zaman. “This is the first time a national women championship is being held here and it’s been a great success.”
