Judgement: Two awarded death sentences

The judge also fined the convicts Rs300,000 each.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Muneer Ahmad on Saturday awarded death sentence to two men convicted of killing a man. Another co-accused was acquitted.


The judge awarded death sentences to Ali Hassan and Muhammad Asif for killing Muhammad Shafique while another accused Bashir alias Toti received benefit of doubt.

The judge also fined the convicts Rs300,000 each. Under Section 324 (intention to commit death) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), the judge awarded them seven years imprisonment and fined them Rs10,000 each. In case the fine is not paid, the men will be imprisoned for four more months.

Muhammad Tanveer said that on December 18, 2005, he and his father-in-law Muhammad Shafiq went to Ghugian Sharif village, where they confronted the men who had beaten their relative. The men shot at them, killing Shafiq.
