ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) disqualified MPA Zahoor Hussain Khosa from Balochistan and ordered the Election Commission (EC) to take action against him.

The three member bench headed by the chief justice observed that the MPA had been found guilty of corruption by using fake documents. The court dismissed the notification of success of the MPA and ordered the Election  Commission to take action against Khosa and then hold by-polls in the constituency.

The court upheld the verdict of the Election Tribunal and rejected the appeal of former MNA Mudasi Qayyum Nahra against his disqualification by the election tribunal.

The apex court also dismissed the appeal made by Malik Yasir Raza, PML-N MPA. Raza was disqualified on June 30 by the Rawalpindi bench of the Lahore High Court for holding a fake degree.

The court has also directed Balochistan Labour Minister Mohammad Sarwar  to present his educational certificates based on which he contested the election. The court ordered the Election Commission to get the certificates of the Balochistan labour minister confirmed from the relevant institutions. The court later adjourned the hearing till August 13.
