LAHORE:

The Crime Investigation Agency on Tuesday arrested a robbery suspect and recovered the weapon and the police uniform he had allegedly used in the crime.

Investigation Officer Muhammad Ismail said Khalid Gujjar’s judicial remand had been sanctioned and the suspect would now be sent to jail for interrogation.

Khalid Gujjar is accused of breaking into Muhammad Majeed’s house with five accomplices two months ago, and snatching Rs30,000 from him.

Talking to The Express Tribune, Gujjar, who claims to be a journalist and a relative of cricketer Muhammad Asif, denied the robbery charge. He admitted trespassing into Majeed’s house, but said it was meant to be a favour to a woman, Razia Bibi, who was allegedly being blackmailed by Majeed.

Gujjar said Razia had asked him for help in recovering some money from Majeed.

The case was first registered two months ago with Shalimar police and later transferred to the CIA on the request of the complainant. The First Information Report (FIR) accuses Gujjar, Razia and four accomplices of trespassing into Majeed’s house, beating him and snatching Rs30,000 from him.

The Crime Investigation Agency said Khalid Gujjar was also wanted in two cell phone snatching cases registered in Tibbi City and Yakki
Gate police stations.
