Rawalpindi made a bright start against Karachi as they reached 294 for nine on the first day of the under-23 Three-Day Inter-Region Cricket Tournament final being held at the Pindi Stadium. Shoaib Ahmed made 78 runs off 112 balls for the hosts and Umair Mushtaq also contributed with a useful run-a-ball 40 to give Rawalpindi a solid foundation on day one. Shoaib Khan claimed three wickets for Karachi, while Abdul Ameer and Husban Javed also chipped in with two wickets apiece.
