Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi will fall on February 5, 2012 (Sunday).
As this religious occasion approaches, different buildings and shrines in the country are decorated with colourful lights.
A number of programmes are chalked out by government and religious organisations to celebrate the birth of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) with great reverence and devotion.
Different Naat committees organise Mehfil-e-Naat and people take out huge processions with green flags.

@striver of progress in pk: Not impressed by your commented words on my comments because Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) never celebrated his birth day even after announced as the Last Prophet and even his followers Sahaba-e-Karam (R.A.) never celebrated his birthday as has been celebrating now-a-days and as far as your stance (there is no any eid if not eid milad-un-Nabi) is concerned then Allah Almighty clearly defined in His doubtless Holy Quran in Sura Najam that my Prophet never says any thing from himself without receiving any Wahi.The commandments to observe the two Eidain were sent by the Wahi.
@Ahmar ali please note that if there is no Eid Milad Un Nabi there will no any other eids.All Eids are BECAUSE OF THE BIRTH of Our Beloved Holy Prophet (PBUH).

@samsam: Anything that creates love in the hearts of the Muslims for Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) is of a great value. It is a no less obligation to recite daroods on Prophet, according to Qur'an.
Assalam-o-Allaikum Warahmatullah.No doubt this is also the happy occasion and event in Islam and its importance,sacredness and dignity can't be ignored and forgotten but there are only two Eids mentioned,described and observed in Islam and that are Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Ad'ha.Please observe this day as the day of Holy and Scared birth day of Last Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (SAW) but not like an Eid.

We should entrust moon sighting to Meteorological department, and like weather lunar movement should be reported on a daily basis.
@samsam: One of the principles in Islamic jurisprudence is that anything that is not prohibited is allowed.Therefore, there is nothing wrong with celebrating Milad-un-Nabi (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam). However, it should be celebrated in a way which does not violate any of the principles of Islam. For example, reciting of Naats with musical instruments (other than Daff), reciting naats on the tones of movie songs, using speakers beyond the boundaries of Masjid and enforcing the speeches on those who don't want to listen or who may be disturbed by that (e.g. a patient)
Having said that: The form of Islam closest to the era of the Holy Prophet (Sallalaho alaihe wasallam) is the best. The form where submission to Allah and the love of the Prophet (Sallalho alaihe wasallam) was practised in its true spirit rather than shallow shows and preachings.

I dont understand the fascination with MILAD UN NABI when no such thing was mentioned when i converted to Islam from Christianity. Neither was anything mentioned in the Quran or Hadees? Pakistanis are great at wasting time and energy on useless stuff!
Sighting of crescent of Holy month of Rabiulawal earlier than expectations has tinted the pleasure of Nation and Ummah in Pakistan as so many people are sad on 2 holidays with weekly off Sunday.
Where we stand? one can easily imagine.

Congratulations on Eid -e-Milad........ Now there is a slight thing to be discussed here....... This year two off days will be lost as they are coinciding with Sunday simultaneously....One is Kashmir Day and second is Eid Milad Nabi...both public holiday but fall on same day i.e. Sunday February 5,2012...... You might say this will help in productivity of Pakistan as two working days will not be lost...but I wonder what productivity we have now-a-days in anyway when there is shortage of Natural gas, electricity, furnace oil, circular debt, corruption, people working on key posts due to sifarish, murder of merit, brain drain, non existent foreign investment, eat-a-holic politicians and lastly closed down factories....!!!!!!!!!!

This year Eid-e-Milad-Un-Nabi is falling on Sunday, which is a holiday as well as Kashmir Day celebrated every year on February 05.
The government should give another day as holiday to the people of Pakistan.
I felicitate everyone on Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi. May Almighty Allah guide us in the path of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad SAWW. Ameen
