The six students of a private school who went missing from Rawalpindi last week were recovered from Peshawar on Monday. They were brought back by the Rawalpindi police, five days after they ‘disappeared’.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Peshawar, Tahir Ayub confirmed to The Express Tribune that the runaway teens including three girls were nabbed from Hashtnagri area.
The official said that the children have been handed over to the Rawalpindi police. However, he did not explain where the children were staying or how police traced their whereabouts.
“They were not kidnapped and had in fact come to Peshawar of their own accord,” the SSP said.
A police official who was part of the team that went to Peshawar to collect the students, including a boy and his sister, said, “They will be investigated and medically examined before handing them over to their families,” adding that they would be taken into custody and produced before a magistrate.
Ninth graders Iqra Naeem and Hamza Ali, and tenth graders Wajeeha Asghar, Areeba Akram, Abu Bakar, and Waleed Akram, all students at APSIS School System in Chaklala Scheme-III, disappeared under mysterious circumstances on January 19. The students left for school, but according to the school administration, they did not turn up there. Following their disappearance, the school administration and the parents lodged a complaint with the Airport Police. The police registered an abduction case on January 20 and started search for the students.
The officer further said that the families had received a call from an unknown person asking for Rs50 million ‘ransom’ for the release of the students.
The students were first believed to be hiding in Murree, but they switched off their cellphones and left them at a hotel in the hill station.
The police tracing the caller through the mobile SIM and learnt that the call was made on Monday morning from Peshawar.

Do not mess with Rawalpindi police!
Teens all over the world run away from parents. Please ask the children in the streets of PAK. Ask why they wanted to run away from their parents in the first place. Sure, they had the support of their peers, and adventurism and crazy idea of ransom demand, but why they did it is the question. Trouble at home and neglect in parental care?
Some children try to run away from home when they are 7-8 years old, invariably happens when they have more than one siblings, due to sense of self pity, trouble between parents and children feeling that it is due to them.
It is hard for a child to break the parental bond unless that bond is weak to start with.
Good parenting is necessary, but Co Education is main cause. Why most of the people tell there children to be in company of good friends, because we all know bad company has its effects same as Co Education has its effect. If a man cant stop his child from cable and mobile then he is doingh bad parenting.Try to make your child so busy that he loose his inetrest in these vulgraties.
@muhammad saad khan:
Medical exam is required for various other reasons as well, like checking if they were under influence off drugs, etc.
If you have read news then you should know that one girl's parent has filed an FIR against the rest of the persons. So, it is also required to know if someone was forced to remain with the group.
Next thing in line, these student's parent will come forward, call from higher authorities, police bribed, case closed, no investigation, media move on to another interesting story, NGO's will protest for early age expemtion... and every one will live happily.
In coming years one of these students will do something extremely stupid to defame pakistan and then there will be hue and cry why they were not punished at first time.....
I would like to ask the parents pressurize on clean investigation and let these student have taste of their own medicine for some days, instead of protecting them!
Ran away, Locked up by police, tried to steal 50 million from parent by deceiving them, created media frenzy, They sure have what it takes to be our future Politicians.
Medically examined does not only mean physical body examination or examination for rape etc. Medical examination can be psychological examination as to why the children did this in the first place.
I think you need to change your caveman mentality first.
This Must have been done under influence of some adventurous movie. I feel medical exam is MUST to know the real motive behind creating this scenario.
Seems like the teenagers were inspired by the movie Shaitaan (Indian).
Why is the police insisting on medical examinations when none of the girls has made any accusations of rape? why this need by the police to sit in judgement on the girls' virginity status? this was a case of fraud perpetrated by the students to extort money from their parents.the girls have not made any accusations of sexual abuse or forced kidnappings by the boys in this case so why does our police force behave like taliban vigilantes and insist on getting medical examinations of the girls? when will our society come out of its caveman mentality?
