Speaking to a gathering of deans and directors of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad here on Wednesday, Lal said western countries after World War II joined hands to make major strides in science and technology and achieved sustainable development through collaborative efforts.
He called for adopting the same model in India and Pakistan as both countries had similar climate, ecological zones, culture and language.
Supporting the idea floated by UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad, Lal said both countries should set up a centre spread over 100 acres along the border for showcasing latest agricultural technologies for cooperation.
He said no visa would be required to experience the technological progress at the centre as only passport would be sufficient.
UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad said that during a visit to India last month, he had talked about opportunities to set up a technology transfer centre along the border and was optimistic about the establishment of such a centre.

The countries in Europe are not Islamic countries. Muslims have no history of cooperating with infidels. Just read the comments posted by some Muslims, you will understand what I mean. Some commentators have redefine their culture based on the Islam, they are following Arabian religion therefore they have to become Arabian and reject their own culture. Pakistan is having an identity crisis they have to sort out who they are..and if the religion is something personal or it makes you reject centuries old culture and take on Arabian culture..which is not yours
India should be vary of people who are having identity crisis.
Stupid persons on both side of the border will not allow any positive change but prbably new generation with better education would welcome such positive initiaives.
For sure there should be more people to people and institutional level contacts between Pakistan and India which are only happening now in sports and entertainment.
There should be scholerships for Paksitan students to get edicated from top Indian institutions, and accross the border jobs should be permitted. And fore sure more trade.
it is good to have good relationship with the neighboring countries, but keep this in mind that we are not same in culture with india. we have our own moral and ethical values. no doubt india and pakistan are always against us, and this will prevail in future, we are not going to be good friend, but can become good neighbors, respecting each others borders and civilians.
There is No need of people to people contact. Lal must live on his side of the border. And analogy of Second WW is not valid here. It is an idiotic comparison . Let's talk over the core issues and resolve them first and stop all kinds of terrorism India had been involved in since 1947, and settle All outstanding issues then perhaps Pakistanis will think that how to seek limited relationship with India. But if India thinks it can fool Pakistanis through such idiotic gestures , it is living in fools paradise. Keep living there as long as It wants because it has seen the last 63 years and next are going to be the same if attitude on Indian side remains the same. Good luck. Dr. Lal can keep making TA/DA money but nothing more will happen. General Public is extremely against it.
