Misappropriation: Former FIA man remanded till Jan 19

The Federal Investigation Agency has taken into custody a former forensics expert at the National Response Centre for Cyber Crime (NR3C) Punjab chapter on a remand till January 19 for misappropriation of equipment recovered in various raids.


Abdul Ghaffor was remanded into the FIA’s custody on Thursday (Jan 12), a day after he had been arrested and a case registered against him under Section 409 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Section 5(2)47 of Prevention of Corruption Act.

Ghaffar and three other officials including a regional coordinator and an office superintendent had been sacked by the FIA on misappropriation charges. The contracts of Abdul Ghaffar, Muhammad Irfan Qureshi (forensics experts); Sarfaraz Chaudhry, posted as FIA NR3C Islamabad chapter regional coordinator; and Saif, an office superintendent in Islamabad, were terminated through a notification on January 6.

Federal Investigation Agency police station house officer Inspector Tariq Maqsood Dhillon has started investigations into the matter.
