HARIPUR:

The PML-N’s decision to move the Supreme Court over Memogate has been instigated by the establishment. The memo is a political issue which needs to be resolved through political means.

This was said by former senator and Baloch leader Abdul Hayee Baloch while talking to journalists on Monday.

He said the PML-N chief is being used by the military establishment and any court verdict against parliament would derail the already fragile democracy. He called for all institutions to work within their constitutional limits to protect democracy in the country.

The former senator said the Baloch have always been deprived of even basic human rights and all Baloch leaders who raised their voice against injustices were killed in cold blood.

“Sui gas was discovered in Balochistan in 1952, while its people were given the facility after 32 years of its discovery,” said the former senator.

“The people of Balochistan have been experiencing an operation since 2005 and hundreds of innocent lives have been lost,” he said, adding that the mutilated bodies of 300 Baloch is a case in point for the dictatorial style of governance in Balochistan.

Regarding the Saindak project, Baloch said 70 per cent of the project’s benefits were reaped by China, while the remaining 30 per cent were utilised by the federal government. The Baloch have been deprived of the benefits, due to which the people developed a sense of alienation.
