FIRs in 162 unaddressed complaints registered

Cell recommended action against several SHOs.

LAHORE: The Citizen Feedback Cell (CFC) has initiated proceedings on 220 complaints filed by citizens in 2011 that were not being registered by the police, a press statement said on Sunday. 

The statement said FIRs had been registered in 162 cases and verification of facts was underway to register FIRs in the remaining complaints.

The cell contacted DIG (Operations), the SSP and recommended strict action against the station house officers of Shadbagh police station (Inspector Munawar Ahmad), Nishtar Colony (Inspector Muhammad Akmal), Sanda (Inspector Tariq Mehmood), Nawankot (Inspector Muhammad Javed), Gujjarpura (Inspector Shahid Ali), Factory Area (Inspector Mehndi Kazmi), Shahdara Town (SI Mumtaz Hussain) and Kot Lakhpat (SI Khalid Mehmood). The statement said the CFC had in 2011 contacted 2,469 people who filed complaints against the police to ascertain that action had been taken on their complaints. It said citizens had praised the efforts of the cell to redress their concerns.
