Bar Matters: LBA elections today

The LBA elections will be held at Sessions Court instead of District Courts for the first time.

LAHORE: Around 11,107 registered members will vote on Friday (today) to elect the new Lahore Bar Association cabinet. The LBA elections will be held at Sessions Court instead of District Courts for the first time because the former has bigger premises. Twelve trial courts on the ground floor will be used for voting that will begin at 9am and go on till 5pm. Nauman Qureshi, Amir Iqbal Basharat and Chaudhry Zulifqar are the presidential candidates. Tough competition is expected between Nauman Qureshi, supported by Asma Jehangir-led group and Chaudhry Zulfiqar of Professional Group, led by Hamid Khan. Rana Javed Bashir, Obaidur Rehman Gondal, Malik Faiz Khokhar, Nasreen Ijaz and Mian Shehzad Hassan are vice president hopefuls. Malik Faiz Khokhar and Mian Shehzad Hassan are the favourites.
