Tennis: Kohlschreiber ends Almagro’s run

AUCKLAND: Philipp Kohlschreiber upset second seed-Nicolas Almagro in the quarter-finals of the Auckland Open with a 7-6, 6-4 victory over the Spaniard. In a tense match, the sole service break came in the final game of the second set when Almagro gifted the match-winning point with a double fault. “Sometimes you need those days where you have a little bit more luck,” said Kohlschreiber, who will meet Olivier Rochus, who defeated Benoit Paire 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 in the semis.
