Qazi downs former Sindh champion

Cueist progresses to 3rd qualification round of Sindh Cup.

KARACHI: Former Pakistan number two Arsalan Ali Qazi overcame Mukhtar Khan, a former Sindh champion, 3-0 to progress to the third qualification round of the Sindh Snooker Cup underway in Karachi.

Qazi took the first frame 63-22 before going down in the second 52-45. However, the cueist hit back in the third, sealing the win with a 56-17 scoreline.

Meanwhile, Shahdab Baig beat Ahsan Siddique 3-2 in a sea-saw encounter. Siddique took the opening two frames 61-49, 66-40 before Baig responded with 83-15, 55-23 wins in the following two. Under pressure after losing two successive frames, Siddique went down in the decider 64-21 as Baig registered a close win.

In other matches, Tayyab defeated Sajid Valli 3-2, Syed Shah got a walkover against Aamir Mehmood and Khuram Jahangir defeated Ahsan Raza 3-1.
