Busted: Police seize large cache of ammunition

Police raided an outlet of USC in Nayyar Khan Market and seized 12,278 9mm cartridges stored in five large bags.

HARIPUR:

The police arrested a suspect and seized a large cache of ammunition from a warehouse in Ghazi tehsil, Haripur on Tuesday.

On a tip-off, the police raided an outlet of Utility Store Corporation in Nayyar Khan Market and seized 12,278 9mm cartridges stored in five large bags. The police also took the store helper, Israr Ahmed, who is a resident of Nowshera, into custody. He has been shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation, said a police official.

The official said the cartridges are imported and worth over Rs0.55 million in the open market.
