The Guinness Book of World record has issued surgeon Dr Naeem Taj of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Hospital a certificate recognising his recent achievement of removing the world’s longest gall bladder through laparoscopy.
Rasheeda Bibi, 70, was operated on at CDA hospital by Dr Naeem Taj, who removed a 25.5 cm long gall bladder through a one cm incision. The previous record was of an Indian doctor, who had removed a 24 cm gallbladder through open surgery.
Addressing a ceremony in honour of the surgeon, CDA Chairman Farkhand Iqbal called Taj’s achievement an honour for the Capital Hospital and the entire nation. Capital Hospital Executive Director Dr Saddique Akbar said that he was proud of Dr Taj and expected the talented surgeon to add much more to his credits.
Dr Taj has also performed other distinctive surgeries, including oldest and youngest patients, longest appendix removed from a child and maximum numbers of stones removed from a gall bladder. Dr Taj dedicated his award to the nation, saying that if given opportunities, resources and encouragement, we can achieve even greater heights.

The consent of the patient was not only taken, but the patient is also supportive and appreciative of Dr. Taj, she was present in the cermony itself :-) Lets be positive and suportive for a change now.
laparoscopy ain't no average Pakistani's ability to fathom. Rather its a skill that needs to be appreciated. Why is the public getting so jealous, rather i would say why is the doctor's community so contipated to the level of making baseless allegations without any speck of proof. Please don't let this achievement be mutilated by politics---the word that encompasses an immunity against all the misdeeds and clandestine rampant corruption that is a disease endemic in this thirld world corner of ours.
why is having (or operating on) a huge gall bladder such an achievement. Im sure it takes the same amount of expertise as a regular sized one
It is a record for sure, but I am not sure it is an achievement.
There is a reliable news from the hospital that the Gall bladder was made to look big by stretching and pumpining water into it to balloon . So its a big fraud
Dr. Naeem Taj has made us all So proud, and proved that we are not short on talent or expertise in any area. Hats off to you Dr. Naeem, May you be able to bring Pakitan to a stage in medical field where other nations come to Pakistan for specialized treatment, instead of being the other way around. God Bless !
