FAISALABAD: Hundreds of residents in Hajiabad, Jameelabad and Hyderabad staged a demonstration on Faisalabad-Sheikhupura Road on Monday against the low pressure of gas for domestic usage. The protestors also pelted stones at vehicles and damaged the windowpanes and main screens of three vehicles. Local residents raised slogans against the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and the government and demanded immediate restoration of gas with full pressure. “There are enough problems with power outages and rising prices, the gas shortage and low pressure makes it hard to keep heaters on and cook food,” said a protester Mazhar. The protest lasted for over four hours, until SNGPL authorities assured the protesters that their complaints would be redressed as soon as possible.
