LAHORE: Cash and valuables worth Rs20 million were taken away in a robbery at a house in Shadbagh on Sunday.

Police said the robbers entered the house of Abdul Aziz, who had recently come to Pakistan from UAE to attend his niece’s wedding. The robbers thrashed Aziz and his three brothers and injured them. They also beat up the servants. They said the family was then tied up and locked in a room, while the robbers searched the house for money and valuables. Police said that robbers stayed in the house for over an hour.

Aziz told The Express Tribune, “We had Rs2.5 million; 57,000 dirhams and 10,000 riyals. This was the amount we had to pay for a house we had bought in Faisal Town.” The robbers drove off in a white Toyota Corolla, he said.

“The robbers also took away three AK-47 rifles, two pistols, 2,300 bullets and imported goods including perfumes, shampoos and chocolates,” he added. Police said the family have named some suspects.
