Fire: 4 shops, power loom burn down

Cloth worth millions of rupees and machinery were burned in the incident.

FAISALABAD: Four shops in Samanabad were burned on Saturday in a fire caused due to an electric short circuit at a spare parts shop. Fire started at Tahir Mehmood’s shop near Novelty Bridge and spread to the neighbouring shops before rescue work could begin. Four shops had been burned by the time Rescue 1122 fire fighters came to the scene and extinguished the fire. In another incident, a power loom factory in Thikriwala police station precincts caught fire following a spark of lightening on Friday night. The factory was owned by one Abdus Sattar, a resident of Sitara Colony. Cloth worth millions of rupees and machinery were burned in the incident, according to Sattar.
