DBA president office: Ex-president, student leader in the run

Senior lawyer says 3,000 lawyers expected to cast ballots.

Former student leader Allah Ditta Kashif will face off former Multan District Bar Association president Sherzamam Qureshi for the office of the DBA president in elections scheduled to take place on January 14.


There are 6,000 lawyers registered with the Multan DBA. Senior lawyer Safdar Sarsana expects the turn out to be around 50 per cent.

Sherzaman Qureshi is in the run for the office of president for a second time. He has once served as the president of the Multan DBA. Allah Ditta Kashif had served as the nazim of the Jamait Talba-e-Islam during his student years at Bahauddin Zakariya University. He is contesting the bar association elections from the platform of Allied Group.

Six candidates will contest the election for the office of the general secretary.

These are Zakir Hussain Naqvi, Shah Zeb Afshar, Aurang Zeb Alamgir, Sher Arif Gondal, Mohammad Wasim and Mohammad Afzal Jutt.

There are three contestants for the office of the vice-president: Sajid Mehmood Ansari, Sajid Sanpal and Shiekh Khalid Hakeem.

Masood Qureshi, Khawaja Ejaz Hussain and Malik Fiaz Hussain will compete for the slot of finance secretary.

As many as 19 lawyers are competing for ten offices of the DBA executive council.
