LAHORE:

Civil Lines police on Thursday told the Lahore High Court that a case had been registered against three police officials for embezzlement.

SHO Muhammad Abid also submitted a copy of the FIR registered against National Volunteers commandant Muhammad Younas Toor, ex-senior clerk Muhammad Niaz and serving senior clerk Ayub Hashmi. A former National Volunteers commandant Sheikh Iqbal had filed a petition against the respondent officials who, he said, had embezzlement funds reserved for daily allowances and uniforms.

He said that an additional district and sessions judge had ordered the police to register a case against the respondents but the order had not been complied with. Justice Rasheed had sought explanation from the SHO.
