Pakistan’s Test squad started their short training camp in Lahore yesterday and Mohsin, whose own future remains undecided, lauded the mixture of youth and experience as a key ingredient that will lead his side to success.
“Our team has experienced players as well as youngsters and they are ready to perform well against England,” said Mohsin following the first day of the training camp. “We have come back from successful, but long, tour of the UAE and Bangladesh and that’s why we have a short camp. The basic idea behind it is to keep the players in rhythm ahead of such an important assignment.”
Mohsin did praise his English opponents but kept his confidence in Pakistan’s bowling attack to outshine the top-ranked Test side in the world.
“No doubt England is the number one team and is balanced in all departments of the game but I think we share the same quality in bowling. If they have good fast-bowlers then we have one the best off-spinners in the world, Saeed Ajmal, and the presence of Abdur Rahman and Mohammad Hafeez makes our spin department even more balanced.”
