Pakistan reached 111 million mobile users in October last year: Report

Mobile phone users in Pakistan reached a tele-density of 65.2% with 111,126,434 users recorded by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) in October 2011, said a report by ProPakistani.

In June 2011, the mobile users were reported to be 108,894,518 in number with a density of 64.8%.

Among the mobile networks, Mobilink telecom company led the market with 33,537,922 subscribers, Telenor remained at second with 27,607,043 and Ufone at third with 20,828,14 subscribers till October 2011. Warid and Zong had 15,985,299 and 13,168,025 users respectively.

Zong had surpassed other companies by accumulating the highest number of subscribers, while Warid lost 1.4 million users during the reported last four months.

From July to October 2011, Telenor added 939,964, Ufone got 294,358 and Mobilink 159,761 users.

Pakistan had reached the 100 million mark in the number of mobile phone SIMs used in the country last year, according to a similar report released by the PTA.
