Federal Minister for Culture Pir Aftab Hussain Shah Jilani said on Tuesday that Indian films would not be given permission for exhibition in Pakistan on Eid-ul-Fitr.

While talking to the media during his visit to Lahore, he said the government is serious in resolving the problems of the Pakistani film industry and many positive steps would be taken soon.

The minister said the representatives of the industry had shared all their problems with him, including establishment of a modern film processing lab, policy on the exhibition of Indian films in Pakistan and the tax on material related to films.

He said that the film industry would be given the status of industry this week.

Jilani further said the government would be requested to increase the budget of the film industry.
