KARACHI: Pakistan boxers will train in Kazakhstan to prepare for the second and final Olympics qualifying event following a joint camp in Islamabad.

According to the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF), at least four boxers will be sent to Astana, which will also host the qualifying event scheduled to start next month.

“The boxers will gain a lot from training in Kazakhstan,” PBF Secretary Akram Khan told The Express Tribune. “The tour will also help them get acclimatised to the conditions. The event is our final chance for a place in the Olympics.”

The list, according to Akram, will be finalised next week by the selection committee and the coaches but he confirmed that Mohammad Waseem, who won Pakistan’s only gold in the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto International Boxing Championship, was a certain inclusion for the tour.
