Mohsin not worried about future

Coach focussing on job at hand instead.

KARACHI: With recent events linking Dav Whatmore to the position of Pakistan’s head coach, the interim coach Mohsin Khan has remained unperturbed about his future, opting to focus, instead, on the upcoming series.

The former opener was named interim coach after Waqar Younis’ resignation as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) looked for full-time replacements. Following the good show against Sri Lanka – and a change at helm at the board – his tenure was extended for the tour of Bangladesh and the series against England. Mohsin later applied for the head-coach vacancy following reports of good understanding with the players with a long-term position in mind.

However, the PCB is reportedly keen to hire Whatmore who resigned as the Knight Riders’ coach on Sunday, further fuelling that speculation. Mohsin, however, is not looking beyond the England series.

“I’m not thinking about my coaching future,” Mohsin told The Express Tribune. “I’ve put all my concentration on the upcoming series. My sole target is a good show against England and I’ll give all my effort to get the best out of the players.”

‘Squad to avoid heavy work-out’

Meanwhile, the Pakistan squad will avoid heavy work-out in the training camp that starts tomorrow in Lahore ahead of its departure for England, according to Mohsin.

“We’ve planned a balanced training camp which serves as a refresher, helping the players regain their rhythm. They’ve had a hectic schedule so we want to keep things light ahead of the Test series.”

Tanvir Ahmed need to be recalled for his start performance in UAE. I don't know on what grounds he was eliminated first from world cup squad then from the team. There are other aged players serving well in the team then why a fit performer is ignored when he is in central contract too. 16 wickets in 4 test matches, then what else you expect from a new entrant.
