Judges honoured: 100 vacancies lying vacant in subordinate judiciary

Ceremony was organized to confer shields upon judges of Sindh High Court.

There are over 100 vacancies in the subordinate judiciary and a delay in a notification for filling the same is affecting the dispensation of justice.

This was stated by Chief Justice Mushir Alam while addressing a ceremony organized by the outgoing managing committee of Karachi Bar Association here at Judges’ library of Sindh High Court.

The ceremony was organized to confer shields upon Justice Mushir Alam, Justice Maqbool Baqer and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and all the four district and sessions judges in recognition of their services for the judiciary.

Government should come forward to bring improvement in the judicial system and meet the requirement of judges, said Justice Mushir Alam pointing to the in-ordinate delay on part of the provincial government, the appointing authority.

He, however, hoped that these judges would be appointed early in 2012.

Referring to relations between the Bar and the Bench, Justice Mushir Alam said that unfortunately lawyers and their representative associations were unable to take full advantage of institutions like Sindh Judicial Academy.

Judicial academies could play a vital role in preparing the young lawyers for the challenges in the profession, groom them, discipline them and inculcate good manners, he said. The outgoing president of the KBA Muhammad Aqil and Secretary Haider Imam Rizvi thanked the judges for accepting the honors.
