Kidnapping for ransom: Police encounter in Taxilla kills six

Four members of same family involved in abduction killed in the encounter.

TAXILA: Four kidnappers, a police official and an abducted doctor were killed while another police official sustained severe injuries during a police encounter in Taxila on Thursday, reported Express News.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Taxila Raja Tefoor said a rescue operation was launched by the police to recover Dr Talal Ahmed, who was kidnapped for ransom of Rs10 million a month ago.

The abductors opened fire as soon as they saw the police, which provoked a crossfire that killed all four abductors and Sub-inspector Raja Husnain. DSP Haripur Asif Gohar sustained injuries, who has been shifted to Military Hospital in Haripur.

According to police, four members of the same family, involved in the abduction, were identified as two brothers Aijaz and Babar, their mother Taj Bibi and Aijaz’s wife Salma. All of them were killed in the encounter.

When police interrogated the neighbours about the abductors, it was revealed that they had a very suspicious presence in the neighbourhood and that they never interacted with anyone in the locale.

A heavy cache of arms was also seized by the police that included Kalashnikovs, hand grenades and bullets.
