Doctors protest delay in colleague’s recovery

HARIPUR:

Doctors on Wednesday held a rally against the delay in their missing colleague’s recovery and threatened to rally across the province.

Doctors and paramedics, on the call of Doctors’ Association Haripur (DAH), boycotted their duties and held a demonstration outside Women and Children Hospital, demanding Dr Talal Ahmed’s recovery

DAH President Dr Hasnain Raza Turabi, Dr Amra Takreem, Dr Manzoor and others criticised the police for failing to discover a single clue in the past 26 days since Dr Ahmed was abducted by armed men.

They were of the view that the incident has exposed families of missing doctors to psychological trauma, as a doctor’s abduction is not a routine crime.

Dr Ahmed, managing director of Yahya Welfare Medical Complex, was abducted from Haripur on December 2, while he was on his way home.

The police confirmed the kidnapping after recovering the doctor’s car from Hattar Road along with his driver, who was hit by a bullet in his head.

The speakers said they would call an all parties’ conference in Haripur and take out rallies across the province if their colleague is not recovered within the next couple of days.
