Education board result, registration delays prompt schools to protest

LAHORE: The All Pakistan Private Schools Management Association (APPSMA) on Wednesday threatened to protest against the Punjab Board of Secondary and Higher Education (PBSHE) on delaying in issuing of registration numbers to students.

Addressing a press conference, President APPSMA Adeeb Jawdani said that the Punjab Secondary Education Board (PSEB) had still not issued registration numbers to thousands of students in the province.

He expressed his concerns regarding the flawed system set in place by the PBSHE, adding that students across the province were facing problems in trying to obtain their registration numbers as well as result cards. Jawdani claimed result cards of students who had appeared for their grade nine examinations were still pending.

He added that if students submitted admission forms without their result cards, a heavy fine was levied on them for submitting incomplete forms.

The president APPSMA said the situation was not Lahore specific but was being experienced by students all over the province.

“All eight education boards in Punjab were posing problems in issuing results and registration details of the students,” he said.

Jawdani demanded that the last date for the submission of admission forms be extended for another 15 days to accommodate students who had not yet received their result cards, adding that the failure to do so would result in a province wide protest against all secondary education boards in Punjab.

“In case we are left with no option but to stage a protest, the responsibility will lie on the board management and the Secretary Higher Education,” he said.
