Surveillance: One dies, one injured, police shot at

A man, trying to escape arrest, fired at police team at Shahdara check post as well as others.

A man was killed and another was injured on Tuesday when a man, trying to escape arrest, fired at police team at Shahdara check post as well as others.


Police said they had recovered three pistols and six magazines from a van they had stopped during surveillance.

They said a passenger of the van was arrested. However, a man riding with him fired several shots at the police. They said he also tried to snatch a motorcycle from a biker, who showed resistance.

Over which the attacker fired shots in the air injuring the biker. Another man, Muhammad Arshad, at a nearby shop was also injured. He then fled from the scene.

Arshad died on the spot. The injured biker was given first aid on the spot, while the body of the deceased was sent to Mayo Hospital. The arrested passenger was identified as Javed, a Gujranwala resident.

He told police that his companion, Shahid, was also a resident of Gujranwala. Police said they are looking for Shahid in Gujranwala.
