Boxing star Amir Khan arrives in Pakistan for tournament

ISLAMABAD: British boxer Amir Khan arrived in Pakistan on Monday to participate as a chief guest in the second Benazir Bhutto International Boxing Tournament.

Speaking to the media at Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad, Khan said that Pakistani boxers were getting better.

“I can see in the next couple of years, they will be amongst toughest nations out there.”

Khan said he will support Pakistani boxers and that he was here to boost their morale.

Khan arrived in Pakistan on an invitation from the Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) and will stay in Islamabad for four days.

Earlier, boxing legend Mohammad Ali turned down an invitation from PBF to attend the event due to health issues.

A total of 16 teams are participating in the tournament including Pakistan, India, Iran, Mongolia, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, Central Africa, Ghana, Kenya, Nepal, Philippines, Syria, Slovenia, Singapore.
