We have to think about Pakistan first, said former president Pervez Musharraf while expressing his concerns over the lawlessness, unemployment and inflation in the country. “We are nothing without our country.” He added that most of the national institutions in the country were on the brink of disaster.
While addressing a public meeting via telephone at Airport Road on Saturday, he said that the country was being threatened but the government was busy defaming the army and intelligence agencies.
He said that he wanted to remind Pakistan Muslim League-N Chief Nawaz Sharif and Sardar Attaullah Mengal that the jawans joined the army from all four provinces, not just Punjab. He asked Sharif not to politicise the army.
“We have to stand united and save Pakistan,” he said. “We will have to struggle and try hard to for development and prosperity.”
He added that he will be back in Pakistan in January 2012.
Sukkur barrage and floods
While commenting on the Sukkur barrage, he said that years of floods and neglect had made the barrage vulnerable.
He added that in 2005 and 2006 he had spent millions repairing the damage. “The people of Sindh should be thankful to the army for saving their barrage,” he said. “The Right Bank Outfall Drain was bringing in poisonous water from Punjab and Balochistan and releasing it in Manchaar Lake.
He added that this was causing severe damage and his government had tried to remedy the situation but did not have the funds to complete the project.

yes musharaf you come and change we need change
I have gone through all your comments in favour of Imran Khan. No doubt he is an honest, capable enthusiastic person. And there is no doubt that if PTI comes into power Imran Khan will definitely prove himself a better leader for Pakistan than all the other politicians. Here I would fail in my duty if don’t express my feelings about former President Gen. Pervez Musharraf. I like him very much because I think his regime was the golden period of Pakistan so far as developments and progress of Pakistan and welfare of the people are concerned. He is an honest person, a great leader, a great administrator, very knowledgeable, brave and state forward person. Here is a brief comparison what was Pakistan’s economy in 1999 and what was in 2008 when Musharrraf Sahib left: 1. Gross Domestic product 1947 to 99 2000 to 07 (Size of Economy. $75 billion $160 Billion 2. Per Capita Income. $450/- $925/- 3. Revenue Collection. $350 Billion $708 Billion 4. Annual Development Budget. $080 “ $520 “ 5. Foreign Exchange Reserves. $ 0.7 “ $ 16.4 “ 6. Direct Foreign Investment $ 0.3 “ $ 8.5 “ 6. Export. $ 7.5 “ $ 18.6 “ 7. External Debts. $ 39 “ $ 40 “ 8. Currency Rate. $ 62/- $61/- 9. Karachi Stock Ex.100 Index. 1,200 Points 16,000 Points. 10. GDP Growth rate. 3.1%,2%. 5%,6%,8.4%
One of his many gifts to the nation is "Free Media".
People have shot sightedness, only time will prove his importance for the country. We miss him more and more with the passage of time.
Unfortunately when a nation have more leaders then followers then we land into such a situation. By default we cannot accept sanity in picking up leaders. People who are butchered by these waderas cannot go against them. I dont understand why??????
@hamza khan: MY support was with Musharraf and will remain with Musharraf cos i believe in figure and what i've seen with my own eyes... others only talk but Musharraf has shown progress. Mistakes can happen by anyone but what Musharraf has done for Pakistan is what was best at that time.
Long live Musharraf
@Omer:
thank you sir. musharraf supporters need to show their support. the propaganda against president musharraf will be reaching a crescendo very soon as his return becomes imminent inshallah. do not let those propagandists get the best of our resolve. pakistan first!
every one join Pervez mushraf on 8th jan jalsa in karachi at mazare quiad. http://www.facebook.com/#!/events/218449758230527/
@Maria:
For some countries Dictators are better. dont forget the time when you only had 2 TV channels like STN and _PTV and Musharraf is the one who bring TV channels along with technologies, which increased the employments. i remember before 1999 even a MBA person was getting max 15 to 20k and in Musharraf time even a 10th Grade student started getting more then 20K. i am sure you must be aware when call center industries started operating in Pakistan :) you better do you home work before commenting on anyone. check the economic stats from 1990 till date and you will see the difference,. Musharraf time was the highest development time in Pakistan and i can bet you cant challenge on this and if you do then i must say again you better do you home work or stop fooling you self against your ego.
Long Live Musharraf
@Maria: Could Maria BB please let us know under which article of the constitution are the Zardaris, the Shareefs and their cronies making money by looting this country.(Is it a secret?). Either she was too young at the time Mr. Musharraf ruled this country or she is lying to herself. Please go through the financial indicators of the country, then. I am sure she belongs to the class where she does not even know that the grocery bill of her house has increased manifold so have all the other bills that the common man has to PAY in his day to day life. What is the constitution doing towards saving PIA, Railways, Pak Steel Mills, etc.(the list goes on). Please Maria BB, we the educated class, should, atleast, not toe the line of the corrupt politicians instead we should see the ground realities. God bless.
Actually we have to develop our country and if we see our past then Sir Musharraf worked hard in the progress of our country but unfortunately our nation is blind. Our nation have never appreciated any one of our leader then they did something better for them......................
When u will come to Karachi. We will wellcome you more then, then we wellcome Imran Khan. Long live Musharraf.
Love you Musharraf, you are the only person with vision to change Pakistan. Rest all talk and hit the week part of public to get their sympothay.
@Maria:
keep the PPP and PML-N kool aid to a minimum please. the SC validated president musharrafs every action, so dont give me this nonsense. he was declared a revolutionary by our very own CJ iftikhar chaudhry. president musharraf will return.
He is the only person who has proven to be good leader. If this nation cannot elect a proven leader then we should be ready for another 60 years of current ghulami by these incorporated parties, including Imran Khan, as I see now all the tareens, kasuris and qureshies sitting on the stage instead of Shireen Mazari,and cheema type people.
Just want to take this opportunity to say that Pakistan does not need CHANGE, it needs PROGRESS instead. Musharraf is the person who can steer the country towards SUCCESS!
Waiting for you sir, please come and bring this country towards peace. Jiye PTI Jiye Musharraf!
bravo! first sold country and claims to be hero! shame on those who still support him!
Long Live Musharraf.. We eagerly look forward to your return..
Mr.Musharraf seems more concerned about himself than the nation. When he took over illegally and disregarded the constitution of Pakistan he destabilized the country and weakened state institutions. While most Muslim countries are happy to rid themselves of dictators, our dictator of the last decade wants to make a come back? How ludicrous! Musharraf should be arrested upon his return and charged with treason like the countries of the Arab Spring are doing with army people who rule over people with guns.
