Off the wagon: Buses impounded for substandard CNG kits

SARGODHA: Several buses and wagons were impounded after van owners and drivers were issued tickets for using substandard CNG kits. According to police officials, the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) launched an operation in the general bus stand, Qainchi Mor and Noori Gate and issued tickets to dozens of vans and buses.

The RTA secretary said vehicles, stand owners and drivers were issued several warnings to remove substandard cylinders but they had failed to comply with these directives.

According to the RTA, it is mandatory for passenger vehicles to install cylinders at Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) licence holder workshops. Following this, the workshop will issue transporters a certificate to be verified by the district administration.
