Tribal areas electricity supply company: Govt asked to clear Rs707m dues

TESCO issued notices to these departments as the company it could not bear additional burden of arrears

PESHAWAR: The Tribal Areas Electricity Supply Company (Tesco) has issued notices to at least eleven major government departments in Fata and Khyber-Pukhtunkhwa to clear their dues amounting to Rs706.99 million by December-end. TESCO issued notices to these departments as the company it could not bear additional burden of arrears, according to a press statement. The company would have no other option except to resort to disconnection of power supply to these departments if they failed to deposit their dues before the deadline, adds the statement. Out of total arrears Rs32.8 million are outstanding against Higher Education, Rs95.3 million against Works and Services and Rs170.42 million against Water Management and Rs.77.6 million against Irrigation & Power in K-P, Rs48.3 million with Frontier Corps and Rs48.3 million with political agents in FATA.
