Burglaries: Traders protest police’s failure to curb crime

Valuables worth more than a million rupees were stolen from 14 shops near Killianwala Chowk over the last 24 hours.

Dozens of traders on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration at Killianwala Chowk against the rising incidence of burglaries in Garh police station precincts.


The protesters blocked Killianwala Chowk for traffic by burning tyres. The protestors chanted slogans against the police and said that it had completely failed in protecting their businesses from criminals.

They said valuables worth more than a million rupees were stolen from 14 shops near Killianwala Chowk over the last 24 hours yet the police had failed to take any action. The protesters dispered after DSP Tandlianwala Chaudhary Farooq Hundal came to the scene and assured immediate action against the criminals.
