KARACHI:

In the wake of the rising incidents of robberies and street crime, the vigilance staff of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) has taken the policing of the locality into their own hands.

After a brief shoot-out on Monday, they caught three dacoits who were looting vehicles traveling through the Khayaban-e-Ittehad-Korangi Road junction. The suspects were later handed over to the police.

DHA has also installed surveillance cameras at all entry and exit points of the area. These have been connected to a control room through fibre optic cables. DHA also recently closed political party offices in its jurisdiction.
