ISLAMABAD:

The National Highways and Motorway police on Saturday impounded a vehicle and arrested a suspected car thief who was taking it to Peshawar after stealing it from Lahore.

A motorway police official said that a patrolling team signalled a Honda Civic (LXD 2171) to stop near Chakri interchange for speeding.

The driver failed to produce the registration book of the vehicle and could not prove ownership of the car.

Upon further questioning, he confessed that the vehicle was stolen from the Gulberg area of Lahore and that he was taking it to Peshawar.

The driver, Bilal, a resident of Swabi was later turned over to the Chakri police.
